Josh Jacobs Scouting Report
Weight: 216 lbs
2018 SEC Championship MVP. Fifteen total touchdowns in 2018 as a Junior, including one on special teams. Four-Star Prospect. In this scouting report, we’ll breakdown Josh Jacobs’ ability and future in the NFL.
What I Like:
Quick Mental Processing
On this play, Josh Jacobs displays tremendous ability to process the play and find the open hole for a first down. Jacobs shows excellent ability to manipulate coverage through shoulders, hips, and footwork.
What I Dislike:
Josh Jacobs shows average ability in pass protection. On this play, Jacobs is off-balance and whiffs on the block entirely. Must show more patience and improved mechanics to initiate block and give the quarterback a clean pocket to throw from.
This particular play is more of a rarity from Josh Jacobs as he’s usually in the flats or on a quick curl route in front of the quarterback. Jacobs displays excellent ability on this play to track the ball and make the catch. Shows excellent balance after the catch as he breaks the tackle for the touchdown.
Displays tremendous ability to make quick reads and cut up the field. Powerful runner that shows excellent ability to get north and south. Shows excellent ability as a receiver. Displays excellent balance to recover after a missed tackle. Jacobs has average ability in pass protection situations. Must play with more balance and engage the pass rush.
Draft Round Prediction
Josh Jacobs is an excellent one-cut style running back that looks for contact. Coupled with his receiving ability, Jacobs is a prospect that can have an immediate impact on an NFL roster.
