Josh Allen Scouting Report

What I Like:

Relentless Pursuit

I really like this clip for a couple of reasons. Josh Allen displays excellent ability to process the play, key the ball, and focus on the quarterback. Even through the mud, Josh Allen is still able to remain focused on the quarterback, shows patience to let the play develop, and then attacks the ball with an excellent burst of speed.

What I Dislike:

Missed Tackles

In this clip, the running back makes an excellent move to avoid Josh Allen, but Allen must show more awareness at the next level and wrap up the ball carrier.

Pass Coverage

Josh Allen shows an above average ability to cover the receiver in pass protection. On this play, Allen shows excellent ability to process the play and break off coverage to attack the quarterback.

Overall Breakdown

Josh Allen is still a raw product, but nonetheless, he possesses the traits to succeed at the next level. His excellent ability to track the ball and attack the ball carrier is what will get him drafted, but improving his tackling skills and refining his mechanics is what will keep him in the league.

Draft Round Prediction

Top-Ten Pick

Josh Allen is one of the best overall edge rushers in this draft class. His abilities translate most to the outside linebacker position, but he does have some experience as defensive end at Kentucky. Top-Ten is a worst case scenario for Allen, as we’ll likely see him come off the board within the first four draft picks.
