What I Like:

Tenacity

I love the effort by Rashan Gary here. He displays excellent ability to sniff out the play and identify the ball carrier. From there, he keys on him and attacks over an offensive lineman.

What I Dislike:

Mental Processing

On this play, I just wish Rashan Gary could have processed and keyed the ball quicker than he did. As a result, the quarterback is able to pickup 5 yards to make it a manageable 2nd and 5.

Instincts

Rashan Gary displays above average instincts on this play. Gary is able to get leverage on the tackle with nice hand placement, while keeping one hand free. Once the window is open, Gary breaks off to attack the quarterback. Rashan Gary doesn’t get the sack on this play, but he certainly contributed to it.

Overall Breakdown

Rashan Gary is a tremendous edge player that is pro-ready. Displays excellent tenacity and effort to attack the ball carrier and complete the tackle. Shows above average instincts to manipulate defenders and find a way into the pocket. Needs to process plays quicker and trust his instincts more often.

Draft Round Prediction

Top-Ten Selection

I have Rashan Gary listed as my best overall 4-3 true defensive end. From what I’ve seen on film, I don’t see his skillset translating to a 3-4 defense, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a few teams try him out in private workouts.
