The 2023 NFL Draft process is well underway as the 2023 NFL Combine is set to kickoff this week. Devon Achane, the former Texas A&M running back, could set a new record in the 40 yard dash. We’ll have to wait until Sunday to find out, but as one of the fastest backs in college football, Achane’s 40 time could be one of the quickest ever.
Devon Achane 40 Time
I have Texas A&M RB Devon Achane poised to run a 4.26 40 time at the 2023 NFL Combine. This predicted time is juts a few hundredths off of the fastest time. John Ross, the former University of Washington WR, ran a 4.22 40 time at the 2017 NFL Combine.
Currently, I have a mid-to-late 2nd round grade on Devon Achane in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, if he’s able to run one of the fastest 40 times in history, that could be enough to propel him into the front half of the second round. We’ve seen plenty of prospects boost their draft stock following the NFL Combine. Devon Achane, simply put, could be the next one in line to do so.
The 2023 NFL Combine
Coverage of the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine begins on March 2nd on the NFL Network. This year, over 300 prospects for the 2023 NFL Draft will be in Indianapolis to go through medical evaluations, drills to measure a player’s speed and strength, as well as on-field drills. Finally, prospects will also have the opportunity to interview with teams in a more in-depth manner than they have previously.
