2024 NFL Draft: Chris Braswell Draft Profile and Scouting Report

Chris Braswell joined the University of Alabama out of high school in 2020, but did not see any action that season. Over the next two seasons, as a sophomore and junior, Braswell finished with 30 total tackles, including 5 tackles for a loss. He had a breakout season in 2023, where he earned AP second-team All-SEC honors. Additionally, he finished with 42 total tackles, including 10.5 for a loss, 8 sacks, and 1 interception. He accepted an invitation to play in the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl.

Chris Braswell 40 Time

Official 40 Time: 4.60 seconds

Chris Braswell is a three-year contributor at the edge position for the University of Alabama. Made a limited number of starts in 2023, however, he did play a high number of snaps equal to starters on defense. He ran a 4.60 40 time at the NFL Combine, which was quicker than the league average. He has solid height and weight for defensive end and outside linebacker, two of his most commonly played positions at Alabama.

Chris Braswell has great athleticism when asked to drop into coverage against RBs and TEs in the flats. When engaged with a defender, he has excellent reach to get an arm on the ball carrier and bring him down, even when he’s away from his body. Displays great awareness to find and locate loose balls when away from the line of scrimmage. Plays with very aggressive hands, which he uses to bat away the defender when attacking off the edge, or during attempts to shed blocks.

However, Chris Braswell can struggle at times to release from blocks when he’s asked to play inside at defensive tackle. As a result of this, I have him projected as more of an off-ball linebacker at the next level. Finally, he shows an inconsistent ability on game film to key and attack the ball in traffic.
