2024 NFL Draft: JC Latham Draft Profile and Scouting Report

JC Latham first saw starting time in 2022 at right tackle for the Crimson Tide. Last season, he allowed two sacks, 11 QB pressures, two quarterback hits, and committed 10 penalties. With several teammates departing for the NFL, JC Latham should have a much more impactful season in 2023.

JC Latham 40 Time

Projected 40 Time: 5.15 seconds

JC Latham is a two-year contributor for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. He was considered a top three recruit in the 2021 class, and has shown his ability to anchor and protect at tackle for Alabama. He possesses good height and weight for the offensive tackle position in the NFL. Our projected 40 time of 5.15 seconds is slightly quicker than the league average.

Latham displays a good ability to steer opponents at the line of scrimmage to quickly open up running lanes. He has a very good use of hands to lockout the defender and keep the defender engaged on the outside shoulder. Shows a solid ability to reach the second-level quickly and drive through defenders to open up running space. Possesses good athleticism for the position to be able to execute pull blocks at a high level of efficiency.

However, JC Latham has an inconsistent use of hands to stun the defender and establish leverage. In pass protection, he struggles with footwork when an inline tight end is lined up directly next to him. Shows an adequate ability to hold his ground and keep the defender in front of him in pass protection.

Recruiting Bio

JC Latham graduated from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, and was coach by Bobby Acosta. He was a consensus five-star recruit among all of the major recruiting outlets. His lowest national ranking came from ESPN, who had him ranked 5th overall. 247Sports, On3, and Rivals all had Latham ranked as the top offensive tackle prospect. He scored a 0.9989 in the 247Sports Composite. He was also named to the MaxPreps 2020 Preseason First-Team All-American list.

Prior to his commitment to Alabama, JC Latham had offers from Ohio State, Georgia, USC, Notre Dame, as well as many others. In June of 2020, Latham committed to Alabama. He signed his letter of intent in December of 2020, with his enrollment coming a month later in January as an early-enrollee.
