2024 NFL Draft: Trey Benson Draft Profile and Scouting Report

After spending two seasons at the University of Oregon, Trey Benson entered the transfer portal, finding his way to Florida State. Following two seasons of high production for the Seminoles, Benson declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. As many draft analysts have predicted, he should be selected as one of the top backs in this class. His play on the field led Florida State to an undefeated regular season in 2023. He now heads into the 2024 NFL Draft process as one of the best running backs in his class.

Trey Benson 40 Time

Official 40 Time: 4.39 seconds

Trey Benson spent four years at the collegiate level, the last two of which were spent at Florida State. Originally an Oregon commit, Benson entered the transfer portal following the 2021 season. Over the last two seasons, Benson has played at a high level for the Florida State Seminoles. He possesses solid height and weight for the running back position. Our projected 40 time of 4.49 seconds is slightly quicker than the league average for the position.

Benson displays a solid second gear to accelerate away from defenders once he hits the open field. He continues to drive through traffic and keeps his feet moving. Stays upright through contact and can maintain balance and recovers with ease. Benson is tough to bring down and fights to the whistle. Ball security isn’t an issue for him as he hasn’t fumbled over his three years of playing time.

Shows to have a marginal ability to see more than what is in front of him and has poor vision at times. Lacks lateral agility to make defenders miss in close quarters or to bounce runs outside of the box. When asked to block in pass protection, he struggles to hold his ground and anchor against defenders off the edge.

Recruiting Bio

Trey Benson graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Greenville, Mississippi, where he played football for head coach John Baker.
