In 2020, Kris Jenkins committed to the University of Michigan as a consensus three-star prospect. He saw limited time during his freshman season, where he earned scout team honors and appeared in the game against Wisconsin, but did not redshirt. The following season, Jenkins saw more playing time, making four starts and appearing in every game that season.
