2024 NFL Draft: Michael Hall Jr Draft Profile and Scouting Report

Michael Hall Jr first saw significant playing time in the 2022 season, after redshirting as a true freshman in 2021. He finished the season with 7.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. Had breakout games against Notre Dame, Arkansas State, and Michigan State. He suffered a shoulder injury that plagued him throughout the year, but if he can remain healthy, the sky is the limit in 2023.

Michael Hall Jr 40 Time

Projected 40 Time: 4.90 seconds

Michael Hall Jr is a two-year contributor at defensive tackle for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He’s a versatile player for the Buckeyes as he’s often moved across the defensive line. He redshirted in 2021 after appearing in just a handful of games. Despite a shoulder injury plaguing him in 2022, he made the most of his time, finishing with 7.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks, along with 19 total tackles. He possesses adequate height and weight for the defensive tackle position in the NFL. Our predicted 40 time of 4.90 seconds is well-above average for the position.

Hall Jr displays a solid ability to set the edge as a defensive tackle. Has a good ability to diagnose runs quickly, especially when stuck in traffic, and attack the ball. Possesses a very good use of hands at the snap to bat the opponent’s hands away and penetrate inside. He’s a high effort player that’s determined to collapse the pocket, and won’t stop until he puts pressure on the ball carrier.

On the other hand, he has an adequate ability  to create drive and collapse the pocket on a consistent basis. He’ll struggle to break free from double-teams. At times, he has adequate quickness and explosiveness off the line of scrimmage, which can hamper the rest of the rep.
