2024 NFL Draft: Bucky Irving Draft Profile and Scouting Report

Mar’Keise ‘Bucky’ Irving first popped onto the scene as a freshman for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. However, following his freshman campaign, Irving entered the transfer portal, eventually winding up at the University of Oregon. Since, he’s posted two seasons of 1,000 yard rushing seasons and 15 touchdowns. In early December, Bucky Irving officially declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Bucky Irving 40 Time

Official 40 Time: 4.55 seconds

Bucky Irving is an explosive running back who finished his college career playing for the Oregon Ducks. He’s a bit undersized when compared to the league average. He ran a 4.55 40 time at the NFL Combine, which is on par with the average for the position in the NFL.

Bucky Irving maintains a good lower pad level when attacking holes at the goal line, which allows him to push through the trenches and into the end zone. On long runs downfield, Irving doesn’t get gassed and is a legit Energizer Bunny clone. Doesn’t give up on the play, even with defenders containing him. His speed makes him a threat in the passing game, especially on those that originate near the line of scrimmage.

However, I would like to see him develop consistent patience to let the play develop before he hits the afterburners. He really only has one gear, which can get him into trouble early in the play’s development.

Recruiting Bio

Mar’Keise ‘Bucky’ Irving was a graduate of Hillcrest High School in Country Club Hills, Illinois, where he played football for head coach Morgan Weaver. He scored an 89.90 in the On3 Industry Ranking system.

Prior to his commitment, Irving had offers from Wisconsin, Michigan, and Utah, among many others. In May of 2020, Irving committed to the University of Minnesota, with his letter of intent being signed in December.
