2024 NFL Draft: Troy Franklin Draft Profile and Scouting Report

Troy Franklin has spent his entire three seasons at the University of Oregon, but had a breakout year in 2023 for the Ducks, where he finished with nearly 1,400 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns on 81 receptions. throughout his collegiate career, Franklin has shown consistent improvement, both on the field and in the stat line. Following the 2023 season, Troy Franklin officially declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Troy Franklin 40 Time

Official 40 Time: 4.41 seconds

Troy Franklin has spent all three seasons of his college ball career playing wide receiver for the Oregon Ducks. Typically, Franklin will play the outside receiver position, but can perform quite well out of the slot position, too. He has good height for the position, but does have a slender frame that teams might look to pack on a bit of weight to. His official 40 time of 4.41 seconds at the NFL Combine is nearly a tenth quicker than the average.

Troy Franklin has excellent quickness off the line of scrimmage to stretch the defender and setup the defender through the stem of the route. He’s capable of sinking his hips and exploding out of the top of the route to create instant separation from the defender. Has a tremendous capability to track the ball over his shoulder on intermediate and deep routes. Excels at adjusting to the ball outside the numbers to get both feet inbounds. Further, he can also adjust back towards the ball to secure passes that are placed away from his body. In all, I would describe Troy Franklin as a receiver that has explosiveness, which he’ll use when necessary to create separation from the defender.

When asked to block downfield, Troy Franklin can stun defenders, but will need to find consistency within his technique to drive through defenders. Additionally, I would like to see more awareness from him in space to locate defenders when blocking. As mentioned, Troy Franklin has explosiveness, but I would like to see him use this on a more consistent-basis coming out of his route.
