2024 NFL Draft Scouting Report: South Carolina WR Antwane Wells Jr

Antwane “Juice” Wells Jr is one of the top receiver prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft class after a breakout season with South Carolina in 2022. After working in the rotation early in the 2022 season, Wells started six of the last eight games of the 2022 season where he went for over 100 yards three times, including a sensational 11-catch-177-yard performance in the upset 63-38 win over Tennessee.

Projected 40 Time: 4.49 seconds

Antwane Wells is a unique blend of speed and quickness as an athlete, which makes him very valuable as both a route-runner and a weapon running after the catch. He shows sensational body control, working the sideline well and keeping both feet in bounds on difficult catches while also dominating his routes with savvy route-running ability.

When we talk about weaknesses with Wells, it often feels like nitpicking. Some testing projections are much more conservative than I project, having him running closer to a 4.6 forty-yard dash. He struggles to make contested catches, thriving in space, and his run-blocking ability could improve. Still, Wells is an intriguing weapon in the 2024 NFL Draft cycle.

Recruiting Bio

Antwaun Wells Jr fell through the cracks of high school recruiting, playing at Fork Union Military Academy. He did not garner a recruiting rating and took an opportunity to play at James Madison.

Wells earned second-team All-Metro honors and was named to the VHSL 5A First Team All-State squad as a senior while collecting first-team all-region and all-conference accolades as a junior and senior. He also gained first-team All-804 mention as a senior… logged 36 catches for 880 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior. He performed well and was named the Big River All-Star Game MVP.

Wells is estimated to be worth $619k in NIL money per On3, including deals with The Farmer’s Dog and Johnso Creative. He is valued as the 49th most valuable NIL college football star.
