Dillon Johnson originally began playing college ball at Mississippi State as a true freshman in 2020, where he carried the ball 51 times for 225 yards and 4 touchdowns. In 2021 and 2022, Johnson saw 89 carries each season, putting up 485 and 488 rushing yards respectively, as well as 7 touchdowns between the two seasons. Had a falling out with HC Mike Leach and entered the transfer portal following the 2022 season, transferring to Washington. He had a breakout Senior season, rushing for nearly 1,200 yards on 233 carries and 16 touchdowns.
