2024 NFL Draft: Braelon Allen Draft Profile and Scouting Report

Braelon Allen has spent all three years of college eligibility at running back for Wisconsin. Ran for over 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns as a freshman. He’s been able to back that up as a sophomore and junior, totaling nearly 3,500 total rushing yards and 35 touchdowns throughout his career. Allen has stood out as one of the top rushers in the Big Ten, which is why he could hear his name called early in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Braelon Allen 40 Time

Projected 40 Time: 4.44* seconds

Braelon Allen is a three-year running back at the University of Wisconsin. He’s a north and south runner with tremendous field of view and vision to find the open field for positive yardage. He has 35 touchdowns in three seasons at Wisconsin, but also has 9 fumbles during that span, too. He possesses good height, but is a bit heavier than others at the position in the NFL. Our projected 40 time of 4.44 seconds is a tenth quicker than the league average.

Allen is a patient runner with a wide field of view to find open field and change direction quickly. He’s a north and south runner that lets holes develop before attacking it vertically. Displays solid balance after contact to remain upright and continuing to push forward for more yards. Shows flashes of lateral agility to make defenders miss outside of the numbers. In pass protection, he has a good ability to punch and stun the defender before moving on.

However, Braelon Allen doesn’t display a second gear on game film to elude defenders in space. He has adequate quickness out of his stance to get out of the backfield quickly, regardless of having the ball in his hands or not. I’d like to see him sit earlier on routes as a receiver. As a blocker, he has an adequate ability to square up defenders to deliver an efficient block. Over his three seasons at Wisconsin, he has 9 fumbles. Struggles to get two hands on the ball in traffic to keep the ball tucked tightly.

Recruiting Bio

Braelon Allen was a graduate of Fond Du Lac high school in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. He was a consensus four-star recruiting prospect, as well as one of the top prospects from the State of Wisconsin. Allen also played linebacker and safety in high school. He scored a 92.78 in On3’s Industry Ranking, putting him 148th nationally.

Prior to his commitment to Wisconsin, Braelon Allen had offers from Michigan and Michigan State. In June of 2020, he officially committed to Wisconsin, with his letter of intent being signed in December of that year. He officially enrolled in Wisconsin on July 1st, 2021.

He has an NIL value of $430,000. He has deals with Pepsi, Outback Steakhouse, and The Varsity Collective.
