2025 NFL Draft: Colorado CB Travis Hunter Draft Profile and Scouting Report

Travis Hunter rose to prominence as a top-ranked recruit out of high school that chose to join head coach Deion Sanders at Jackson State, an FCS program. Throughout his time at the collegiate level, Hunter has shown up time and time again on game film making big plays to help his team on both sides of the ball. In 2024, he looks to cap off his time at Colorado with the Heisman Trophy.

Projected 40 Time: 4.40 seconds

Travis Hunter is a two-way player for the University of Colorado Buffaloes. Hunter is a cornerback, but also plays wide receiver for the program. He’s one of the fastest prospects in his class. He possesses solid height and weight for the cornerback position when compared to the league-average in the NFL. However, he might be a bit undersized as a wide receiver to play the outside position consistently.

As a receiver, Travis Hunter does an excellent job of separating from the defender at the top of his route. He’s capable of manipulating the defender with his body and has a high football I.Q. to read and process quickly. Additionally, he’s elusive in close quarters and is capable of making defenders miss as he fights for yardage.

As a cornerback, Travis Hunter displays good range to attack and reach the ball carrier from solid distance. Hunter is aggressive at the line of scrimmage, but can be too aggressive at times. He’s an instinctive player that’s disruptive at the catchpoint.

It’s unclear whether Travis Hunter can be a two-way player in the NFL. In my opinion, he projects best as a cornerback. However, I do believe that he could play on a limited-basis at wide receiver.

Recruiting Bio

Travis Hunter was a two-sport athlete at Collins Hill high School in Suwanee, Georgia. He played football for head coach Lenny Gregory. He was one of the top recruits in the nation out of high school. In March of 2020, Hunter committed to play at Florida State, where Deion Sanders, his favorite player, played college ball. However, later that year, Deion Sanders was hired as the head coach of Jackson State University, an FCS-level program. Travis Hunter flipped his commitment in December 2021 and joined Sanders at JSU.

Travis Hunter was a two-way player for Jackson State, playing cornerback and wide receiver. Following the 2022 season, Sanders accepted an offer to become the head coach at the University of Colorado. Travis Hunter, along with several other key players, followed their head coach and enrolled at Colorado. He won the Paul Hornung Award in 2023, which is presented to athletes that play multiple positions on either side of the ball.

Travis Hunter has an NIL valuation of $3.6 Million.
