2025 NFL Draft: Georgia LB Jalon Walker Draft Profile and Scouting Report

Jalon Walker has been with the University of Georgia all three years of college ball, but had a breakout season in 2024 with starting reps. He had a breakout game mid-season against Texas, but has played consistently all season. If he declares for the 2025 NFL Draft, he looks to add his name to the list of Georgia Bulldogs selected in the first round.

Jalon Walker 40 Time

Projected 40 Time: 4.57 seconds

Jalon Walker is a three-year contributor at linebacker for the University of Georgia, with starting reps coming for 2024. He typically lines up at inside linebacker, but the Bulldogs defense also uses him to rush off the edge. Possesses the ideal height and weight for the linebacker position when compared to the league-average in the NFL. Our projected 40 time of 4.57 seconds is several tenths quicker than those in the NFL at the position.

When rushing the passer, Jalon Walker is a relentless pursuer. He doesn’t possesses an array of tools to beat offensive linemen, but will not give up on the play. Furthermore, he does an excellent job of keeping his eye on the ball and maintaining his awareness. He does the same against the run, but can get bounced around a bit in traffic. When dropped into coverage, he does a fine job of shedding blocks and attacking the ball carrier in the open-field. Additionally, he keeps the ball carrier in front of him when playing zone coverage and won’t overplay the ball.

He won’t outrun the offensive tackle at the snap, but does appear to have good closing speed with the ball in sight. When lined up against slot receivers or tight ends, he can struggle at times to hang with drag routes across the middle of the field.

Recruiting Bio

Jalon Walker was a four-star recruiting prospect from Salisbury High School in Salisbury, North Carolina, where he played for head coach Brian Hinson. In addition to football, he also competed in basketball and track and field. On3, 247Sports, and ESPN all had Walker ranked in the top 75. Additionally, all major recruiting outlets had Jalon Walker ranked as a top ten linebacker in the class.

Prior to his commitment to Georgia, Walker had offers from top programs in the country. He had several unofficial visits to University of North Carolina and was recruited heavily by their staff. However, in March of 2021, Jalon Walker committed to play for Georgia. He enrolled in January of 2022.
