2025 NFL Draft: Kansas QB Jalon Daniels Draft Profile and Scouting Report

Jalon Daniels burst onto the scene in the 2022 college football season by winning the starting job and leading Kansas to their first 5-0 start since 2007. However, a shoulder injury would force him to miss four games in 2022, and Kansas fell to the wayside in the competitive Big 12 slate. Daniels himself is an improviser who can create very well when the play breaks down, much to the same style and mold of former UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Projected 40 Time: 4.56 seconds

Jalon Daniels isn’t everyone’s quarterback flavor, but several fundamental aspects of his game already show promise. He has a good arm, though not great, and can spin it well. He offers good movement ability and is a talented athlete. As a result, he can fit into several schemes and packages across all of football. His intellect is well beyond his years as well, receiving all-Academic honors at both a conference and a national level.

The biggest problem with Daniels at this point of his career is durability. While he certainly shows polish, he lacks size and frame and has already missed several games in his career with injuries. He plays bigger than he is, which often allows him to take unneccesary hits as a runner.

Recruiting Bio

Jalon Daniels was a 3-star recruit from Lawndale High in Lawndale, California, with a 79.82 grade on On3’s Industry Ranking. As a junior in high school, he competed 136-of-237 passes for 2,351 yards and 26 touchdowns while also rushing for 940 yards and ten touchdowns on 96 attempts, and helped Lawndale to a 14-2 record in 2018.

He chose Kansas after initially committing to MTSU and also held offers from Army, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Air Force, as the 117th-ranked quarterback prospect in the Class of 2020.

Daniels has an NIL evaluation of $283k and has a deal with Mass St. Collectables which has featured him in Applebees and Wendy’s ads.
