2025 NFL Draft: Emeka Egbuka Draft Profile and Scouting Report

Emeka Egbuka first saw significant playing time in 2022, after appearing in spurts during the 2021 season. Egbuka was the 2019 Washington Gatorade Player of the Year, as well as a highly-ranked recruit. He finished the 2022 season with 74 receptions for 1,151 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. He should have a much more impactful role in the 2023 offense.

Emeka Egbuka is a two-year contributor at wide receiver for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He’s often moved across the field, therefore, he’s capable of playing either the inside or outside receiver position in the NFL. He possesses solid height and weight for the position when compared to the league average. Our projected 40 time of 4.40 seconds is slightly quicker than the league average, which is reflective of the game film.

Egbuka displays good acceleration and quickness off the line of scrimmage to separate from the defender through the route’s stem. Shows a very good ability to explode out of the break at the top of the route to further his separation from the defender. Has a very good ability to climb the ladder to secure passes above his head, but overall, has a very good catch radius for all balls away form his body. After the catch, Egbuka displays very good contact balance to remain and break tackles. He also has very good sharpness to his routes, furthering his ability to separate. When asked to block, he has a solid ability to stun the defender and remain engaged to keep the area clean for the ball carrier.

However, Emeka Egbuka has an adequate ability to recognize lulls in zone coverage and rarely sits on a route to maximize clear space around him. When the pocket collapses, he has an adequate ability to work back towards the quarterback to provide a check down option for him. I would like to see him play with a higher motor and effort, especially when he’s not the primary target in the play design. There is a tendency to drop easy catches as he takes his eyes off the ball. Finally, he struggles to get in front of defenders and gain leverage quickly on blocking assignments.
