Walter Nolen 40 Time

Projected 40 Time: 4.92 seconds

Walter Nolen is a three-year contributor on the defensive line. He has mostly originated from the defensive tackle position, although he is versatile enough to play defensive end. His height and weight are solid when compared to the league average, although coaches may look to add weight to his frame. Our projected 40 time of 4.92 is over a tenth quicker than average.

Walter Nolen is a high motor rusher that doesn’t give up on plays easily, even when fighting double-teams. He displays a full utility belt to beat interior offensive linemen, although some refinement is likely necessary. Nolen shows to have a good ability to find and attack the ball quickly, whether he’s in traffic or engaged with a blocker. In pursuit, he displays a wide tackle range and can chase down the ball carrier into the second level.

However, there are some flaws that are apparent on game film. For instance, he can struggle at times to win versus interior offensive linemen. Additionally, he can struggle early in the rep to gain his balance. As a result, he’s pushed around often.

Recruiting Bio

Walter Nolen graduated from Powell High School in Powell, Tennessee, where he played for head coach Matt Lowe. He was a consensus five-star recruit and ranked top five nationally by all of the major outlets. He scored a 99.59 On3 Industry Ranking, which was 1st in the nation.

He had offers from all of the major programs in the country. In 2021, he began to narrow his search to Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. In November of 2021, he announced his commitment to Texas A&M. However, he still took several visits to Tennessee until he signed his letter of intent with the Aggies in December of 2021.

In December of 2023, Nolen entered the transfer portal. On December 24th, he announced that he would be enrolling at Ole Miss.
