Derrick Harmon 40 Time
Projected 40 Time: 5.12 seconds
Derrick Harmon is a versatile three-year starter on the defensive line. Began playing college football at Michigan State before transferring to Oregon for the 2024 season. Primarily played DT at Michigan State, but has shown off tremendous versatility for Oregon, playing multiple positions. He possesses ideal height and weight for the defensive tackle position. Our projected 40 time of 5.12 is on par with the average for defensive tackles.
Harmon creates excellent push inside at the line of scrimmage. At the snap, he maintains a low pad level to create penetration inside and disrupt the pocket. His use of hands allows him to swat the opponent’s hands and establish leverage off the edge. Additionally, he is capable of tying up multiple offensive linemen to create open lanes for his teammates to rush the pocket.
However, there are some areas that Derrick Harmon could improve. For instance, he needs to shore up inconsistent tackling. I’d also like to see him refine his technique for shedding blocks at the point of attack. Finally, he struggles to finish when pursuing the ball in the backfield.
Recruiting Bio
Derrick Harmon graduated from Loyola High School in Detroit, Michigan, where he played football for head coach Kevin Rogers. He was ranked as a three-star recruit by all of the major outlets. He scored an 83.08 On3 Industry Ranking, which was good enough for 991st nationally.
Out of high school, Harmon had offers from Central Michigan, Purdue, Ole Miss, and Michigan State. In April of 2020, Derrick Harmon announced his commitment to play for the Michigan State Spartans. After three seasons with the Spartans, Harmon entered the transfer portal before withdrawing a couple of weeks later. However, he reentered the portal in April of 2024, finding his way to Oregon shortly afterwards.
