2025 NFL Draft: Texas A&M EDGE Nic Scourton Draft Profile and Scouting Report

Nic Scourton is a three-year edge rusher that currently plays for the Texas A&M Aggies. He played his first two years of college ball for the Purdue Boilermakers before returning home to play for the Aggies. Scourton burst onto the scene in 2023 when he recorded 10 sacks for Purdue. Formerly known as Nic Caraway, he also played basketball in high school, which accounts for his elite athleticism and quickness.

Nic Scourton 40 Time

Projected 40 Time: 4.76 seconds

Nic Scourton, formerly known as Nic Caraway, is an edge rusher for the Texas A&M Aggies. He’s a versatile weapon for the Aggies, but primarily lines up at defensive end or outside linebacker, which should also be his role at the next level. He possesses solid height and weight for the defensive end position, but might be a bit undersized to play outside linebacker. Our projected 40 time of 4.76 seconds is equal to the league average for defensive ends, but slightly slower than outside linebackers.

Nic Scourton is an elite edge rusher in college football. He displays a very good ability to set the edge versus the run. He shows patience to let the run play develop before attacking the ball in the backfield. Further, he sheds blocks quickly as he pressures the pocket or attacks the ball carrier. Displays good contact balance to remain upright through contact, while also keeping his eyes on the ball.  When rushing the passer, he displays excellent quickness off the line of scrimmage to beat offensive linemen. He’s a high-motor rusher that possesses a very quick processing speed to find and attack the ball.

However, there are moments on film where he can look a bit too stiff off the edge. He doesn’t possess the same level of body bend as others with similar draft grades. Lacks quickness and top end speed to make a significant impact on a consistent-basis versus the outside run or plays upfield.

Recruiting Bio

Nic Scourton graduated from Bryan High School in Bryan, Texas, where he also played basketball. He was ranked as a three-star recruiting prospect by On3 and Rivals. He scored a 90.26 On3 Industry Ranking, which was good enough for 296th nationally. 247 and Rivals ranked him in the top 200 as a four-star prospect.

Nic Scourton didn’t have a lot of top offers coming out of high school. UTSA, SMU, and Tulane offered him scholarships. Ultimately, he received an offer from Purdue, which he accepted. Following two seasons for the Boilermakers, including a breakout 2023, Scourton entered the transfer portal. In January of 2024, Nic Scourton announced that he would transfer to Texas A&M.
