2025 NFL Draft: Texas A&M EDGE Shemar Stewart Draft Profile and Scouting Report

Shemar Stewart has been a consistent for on the defensive line for the Texas A&M Aggies since 2022. He made six starts as a true freshman for the Aggies, finishing with 23 total tackles, including 1.5 sacks. His total tackles dropped to 11 in 2023, but was a more consistent player, despite only making one start. Became a full-time starter in 2024, finishing the year with 31 total tackles, including 6 for a loss and 1.5 sacks. Despite being top-ranked out of high school, he’s never been able to fully put everything together.

Shemar Stewart 40 Time

Projected 40 Time: 4.74 seconds

Shemar Stewart is a three-year contributor on the defensive line for the Texas A&M Aggies. He typically lines up as a defensive end for the Aggies, although he has played some OLB, too. However, I think he projects best as a defensive end in the NFL. He possesses good height and weight for the position when compared to the average. Our projected 40 time of 4.74 seconds is slightly quicker than average.

Stewart has excellent quickness off the edge. He does a solid job of recognizing when he’s an unblocked rusher and using that quickness to his advantage. He creates solid push inside when rushing interior gaps. His footwork and use of hands both allow him to beat his defender off the edge.

However, I do believe that he needs to speed up his processing speed, especially when identifying outside runs. He can struggle to shed blocks when engaged with defenders in the trenches. Finally, I’d like to see more effort from him when setting the edge versus outside runs.

Recruiting Bio

Shemar Stewart graduated from Monsignor Place High School in Miramar, Florida, where he played football for head coach Brandon Marquez. In addition to football, Stewart also played Basketball for Monsignor Place. He was a consensus five-star recruiting prospect according to the major outlets. All four outlets had Shemar Stewart ranked in their top thirty, while 247Sports and ESPN had him ranked in the top ten.

Prior to his commitment to Texas A&M, Shemar Stewart also had offers from LSU, Miami, and Georgia, along with many other top programs. Despite taking multiple visits elsewhere, Stewart announced his commitment to Texas A&M in February of 2022. He officially enrolled in May of 2022.
