Kelvin Banks Jr 40 Time
Projected 40 Time: 5.21 seconds
Kelvin Banks Jr is a three-year starter at left tackle for the University of Texas Longhorns. He’s been a consistent presence at the position for the Longhorns, leading them to back-to-back semifinalist nominations for the Joe Moore Award, which is presented to the best offensive line. He is an inch or two shorter than the average offensive tackle in the NFL. Our projected 40 time of 5.21 seconds is on par with the average.
On film, Banks Jr is one of the best anchors in the class. He handles delayed blitzes well and absorbs contact with ease. Displays excellent use of hands to stun the defender to gain leverage. He processes quickly and doesn’t labor versus delayed blitzes and stunts.
However, he can overextend himself when coming out of his stance in pass protection, creating a much easier pass rush plan for the defender. Additionally, he can be too aggressive off the line of scrimmage with his body, allowing the defender to maintain leverage.
Recruiting Bio
Kelvin Banks Jr graduated from Summer Creek High School in Humble, Texas. He was ranked a five star recruiting prospect by on3 and 247Sports, while Rivals and ESPN ranked him with four stars. On3 had him ranked in the top ten nationally, while all major outlets ranked him in the top ten for all offensive tackles. He scored a 97.49 On3 Industry Ranking, which was good enough for 22nd nationally.
Prior to his commitment to Texas, Banks Jr had offers from USC, LSU, Alabama, Oregon, and Texas. In July of 2021, Kelvin Banks Jr announced that he would commit to the University of Oregon. However, following a November unofficial visit to Texas, he flipped his commitment to the Longhorns.
