With the 38-35 loss to the Miami Dolphins, the Cincinnati Bengals have officially locked up the first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.  For a franchise that has seen a steady decline over recent years, this puts the Bengals in a complete rebuild mode.  They’re currently 1-14 on the season under first-year head coach Zac Taylor.  Now that Cincinnati has locked up the first overall pick, let’s take a look at potential prospects that could be selected.

Joe Burrow, QB, LSU

Fresh off his Heisman Award, Joe Burrow looks poised to lead the LSU Tigers deep into the College Football Playoffs.  Burrow has seen his NFL Draft stock take gigantic strides this season as LSU moved towards a spread offense, likely making him the first overall pick.  With a way out of their contract with QB Andy Dalton, it would make sense for the Bengals to continue the trend of making the Heisman Winner the first overall selection, too.

Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia

If the Bengals decide to stick with Andy Dalton, or look to transition into a veteran signal caller, they should take a look at a franchise left tackle.  Andrew Thomas has performed remarkably well for Georgia the last few seasons, and is likely a top five prospect in this draft class.  If the Bengals decide to pass on Andrew Thomas, he won’t have to wait very long before his name is called.

Chase Young, EDGE, Ohio State

As impressive as Joe Burrow has been this season, I don’t think there’s a more talented prospect in this class than Chase Young.  He’s shown the ability to make plays at defensive end as well as outside linebacker, making him even more desirable.  The Bengals could look to put a premium on the defensive side of the ball, improve their team equally, and then potentially look at quarterbacks later in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Regardless of what the Cincinnati Bengals decide to do with their first overall selection, it’s going to get very interesting.  Follow us for more in-depth coverage here at NFL Draft Lounge as we get closer to the 2020 NFL Draft.
