For the first time in the history of the AP Poll, three ACC schools ranked in the top five. Mack Brown, the Head Coach of UNC, has orchestrated an excellent turnaround since taking over the program in 2019. UNC’s WR duo of Dyami Brown and Dazz Newsome have been pivotal to the success of the program this season. In this article, we’ll look at both 2021 NFL Draft-eligible wide receivers. Additionally, we’ll examine where these two receivers might be draft in April.
Over the summer, we published this scouting report on Dyami Brown. The former four-star recruiting prospect, through three games this season, has 13 receptions for 240 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Last season, in 12 games, Brown had 51 receptions for 1,034 yards and 12 touchdowns. As noted in our scouting report, we expect that Dyami Brown will be a mid-to-late round draft pick. However, as one-half of UNC’s WR duo, if Brown is able to produce at a high-level, we could see the wideout rise up draft boards.
On the other side of the field is Dazz Newsome. Last season, Newsome racked up 1,018 receiving yards on 72 receptions and 10 touchdowns. In a game against Virginia Tech last week, Newsome accounted for one receiving touchdown, as well as one rushing touchdown. Currently, Newsome is projected to come off the board in the fourth to sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
As the season progresses, this UNC WR duo is worth keeping an eye on. If the program is able to remain in the top five of the AP Poll, we could see both of these 2021 NFL Draft-Eligible prospects rise up draft boards.
