Each year I do a deep dive on mid-late round prospects and find some “my guys”, players I do not expect to go within the first three rounds, yet think are fully capable of being a solid NFL player, and “steal”, for the team that drafts them. In the first edition of the 2024 “Steal” prospects, I’ll be covering Delmar Glaze. an offensive tackle who spent four years at the University of Maryland.
For more coverage on Delmar Glaze, along with other “Steal” prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft class, be sure to follow NFL Draft Lounge. As always, you can also find us on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
Name: Delmar Glaze
Position: Offensive Tackle
College: University of Maryland
Height: 6040
Weight: 323
Hand: 9 3/8″
Arm: 34 1/2″
Wingspan: 82″
During his four seasons with the Terps, Glaze was named Honorable mention All-Big Ten, as well as Third Team All-Big Ten. Per the University of Maryland’s website, Glaze ranked 2nd in the Big-Ten and 4th in FBS in PFF (Pro Football Focus) pass-blocking during the 2024 season, then 2nd in the Big-Ten and 7th in FBS during the 2023 season. His stellar 2024 season earned him an invite to the Reese’s Senior Bowl, where he more than held his own against the defensive line competition.
Pros:
-
- Patient when pass-blocking, doesn’t rush his feet or hands
- Adept at hand fighting, doesn’t punch prematurely nor outside of his frame
-
- Quick in the running game, showed ability to beat defenders on outside zone plays, there were also a number of times he put second level defenders on the ground
- More than held his own against Big-Ten powerhouses (Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State)
- Played well in Senior Bowl 1v1’s
Cons:
- Patience can sometimes cost him against speed rushers, can fail to react/adjust quickly enough
- Bigger defenders caused his issues in the running game, he’d beat them to the spot but couldn’t move them much/if at all
- Stunts or “games” can get past him, doesn’t react quickly enough to defensive line movement and shifts
Overview: All said and done, I think Delmar Glaze is a very good pass-protector, and has the size to become better in the running game. When the NFL Draft ventures into Day 3, front offices are looking for players that have the tools to become solid players, and Glaze certainly has that. He has long arms and put them to use on film. From a talent perspective, I think Glaze is right there with some of the offensive tackles that will be drafted on Day 2, Ultimately, how well front offices think his game will translate versus NFL defenders will determine where he goes.
Draft Outlook: Rounds 4-5
