2023 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Northwestern OT Peter Skoronski

The last few seasons haven’t been successful for the Northwestern football program, but OT Peter Skoronski has been a stud for their offense. With the 2023 NFL Draft process in full swing, many draft analysts not only have Skoronski graded in the top ten, but listed as the top offensive tackle that is draft eligible. In this 2023 NFL Draft scouting report, we’ll breakdown Peter Skoronski with a full report, 40 time, and NFL Draft prediction.

Be sure to follow NFL Draft Lounge for more scouting report coverage, as well as more on Peter Skoronski. As always, you can find us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Peter Skoronski 40 Time

I have Northwestern OT Peter Skoronski poised for a 5.21 40 time at the 2023 NFL Combine. If this holds true, it would be a solid time when compared to the league average for the offensive tackle position. On game film, Skoronski holds his own when he’s asked to block at the second-level or pull and block outside the pocket.

Peter Skoronski Injury History

Northwestern OL Peter Skoronski has played in every game during his collegiate career. Furthermore, there have been no reported injuries. As a result, Skoronski should receive a clean bill of health during the medical evaluation process at the 2023 NFL Combine.

Peter Skoronski Scouting Report

Pros
  • Very Good Footwork For An Offensive Tackle
  • Capable Of Pull Blocks And Creating Space For Backfield Outside The Pocket
  • Great Recovery Ability Versus Power And Bull Rush Moves Off The Edge
Cons
  • Delayed Blitzes Inside Are A Struggle For Him
  • Tendency To Hold Defenders When Run-Blocking
  • Needs To Play With More Consistent Aggression

Peter Skoronski is a three-year starter at offensive tackle for the Northwestern Wildcats. He’s currently ranked by many draft analysts as one of the top offensive tackles eligible for the 2023 NFL Draft. He possesses solid height and adequate weight for the position when compared to the league average. His predicted 40 time of 5.21 is also solid, as it’s very close to the league average.

He displays a very good ability to drive through defenders and create push at the point of attack. Shows a very good ability to pull and drive through defenders at the second-level to create space for the backfield. Additionally, he’s able to reach those second-level blocks quickly. He has very good footwork to slide out and neutralize edge rushers with ease in passing situations. Displays a very good ability to lock out and anchor against edge rushers. His recovery ability versus power and bull rush moves are also good. He can hold his own in pass-blocking out in space in 1-on-1’s against edge rushers

However, Peter Skoronski can be slow to pickup delayed rushers up the inside. He has a tendency to wrap around defenders when asked to run block, which could result in holding calls at the next level. Displays an adequate ability to steer and control defenders to establish and maintain space for the backfield. I would like to see him play with more aggression and use his hands to stun defenders to establish leverage. Finally, while he’s able to get to the second-level quickly, he has adequate reach once he gets there.

Peter Skoronski NFL Draft Projection

I currently have a top ten grade on Northwestern OT Peter Skoronski. This isn’t a heavy class at the top for offensive linemen, but Skoronski shines. Despite Northwestern’s recent struggles, Peter Skoronski has been able to show consistent improvement. If he declares for the 2023 NFL Draft, Peter Skoronski should come off the board in the top ten.

The Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals are two teams that make the most sense for an offensive tackle. Both teams have franchise quarterbacks that they must protect. However, if the Bears hold the second overall pick, as they do now, for the 2023 NFL Draft, that might be too high for Skoronski.

Other teams that make sense would include the Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Chargers, and Indianapolis Colts.
