His Heisman’s already locked up in the Trophy Room. Caleb Williams is the best QB prospect since Trevor Lawrence and ESPN Draft Analyst Todd McShay had Williams going #1 in the 2023 NFL Draft had he been eligible, quoting “Caleb, he’d be the first pick in this draft, And a trade-up would be warranted if Chicago didn’t want him.” Fellow NFL Draft expert and NFL Network Analyst Daniel Jeremiah also had this to add to McShay in that article concerning Williams “Jeremiah was of the mind that Williams and (Drake) Maye were far and away better than the top prospects in 2023.
“I would say it’s not even debatable,” Jeremiah added. “I mean, I’ve seen enough of both those kids. … Both those guys are very special players.” Add to all this 4,537 yards and 42 touchdowns through the air, another 382 yards and 10 scores on the ground, and last year’s tape is already on scouting department desks riddled and written with production, traits, and flair. While it’s still early in the draft evaluation process, you can go ahead and book it: Caleb Williams is going 1st overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Potential Fits:
Starting the discussion of some potential fits for Williams in the 2024 NFL Draft, it’s worth mentioning he’s already publicly discussing “preferred destinations”, even being quoted in this article “San Fran, Raiders, or Falcons” as a few off the top of his head.
Sam Howell could very well have a nice year for the Commanders. A tragedy in recent memory, Washington’s new ownership can make a statement and commercialize a rebrand with the hometown D.C. native and Heisman hero. Williams was even recently published in USA Today concerning the Washington Commanders location, “Taking it back to DC — I don’t know why you would go to Virginia or anything like that. Put the Washington Commanders in Washington, if you’re going to move anywhere”
Don’t sell me the Nebraskan Oceanfront property that Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask is a long-term plan. Williams is walking laps around both of these two with his eyes closed.

This will be the traditional Buccaneers cycle. I’ll give them props, the Bucs do not stay in purgatory traditionally. They either win big or blow it up and aim for a contender in due time.
The Arizona Cardinals have been in the news for having 2 potential Top 3 picks but Arizona forgoes Williams because of Kyler Murray’s $50+ Million a year cap hits for 2024-2026 and $82 Million in 2024, $33 Million in 2025, and $20 Million in 2026 in dead cap. Arizona instead has trade bait.
