With the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl practices in the rear view, it’s time to recap the week. An infamous part of the week are the “Stock Up, Stock Downs” that we see as members of the media catch up to NFL scouts. However, another part of the week is what we can’t necessarily see with the naked eye. Zebra Technologies has partnered with the Senior Bowl to provide valuable metrics. These are measurables like max acceleration and deceleration, explosive efforts, and distance traveled. On day two, Iowa State CB Darien Porter topped the Zebra speed charts as he topped out at 22.17 MPH.
Porter’s speed was the fastest through all three practice days in Mobile. In fact, you’d have to go back to the 2022 Reese’s Senior Bowl to UTSA DB Tariq Woolen for a faster time. He ran 22.45 MPH on day one of practice that year. He would eventually go on to become a fifth round draft selection for the Seattle Seahawks a few months later.
Iowa State’s Darien Porter (6026v, 192v) might be most “arrow-up” of any CB in 2025 draft. Former converted WR & first-year starter has unique combo of length & speed. Reese’s Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy posted the above tweet in September of 2024. Despite only playing in 425 snaps in 2024, Porter finished the season with 18 total tackles, 12 of which were solo, and 3 interceptions. Additionally, he was also a playmaker on special teams, blocking one punt and one field goal.
Be sure to follow NFL Draft Lounge for more coverage on Darien Porter, as well as the rest of the prospects playing in the 2025 Senior Bowl.
