NFL Draft: Who Should Have Gone First?

NFL Draft: Who Should Have Gone First? The 2020 NFL Draft remains the most unique event of its kind. While teams have high hopes for their selections, whether or not they made the right choice is unclear. Cincinnati sure hopes they made the right selection by taking Joe Burrow No. 1 overall. However, Chase Young, who went No. 2 to Washington, was considered the draft’s top pro prospect. Other quarterbacks dotted the top-10, including Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa at No. 5 and Los Angeles’s Justin Herbert at No. 6. Despite instant draft grades and talk, most pundits and analysts normally reserve...

NFL Rookie of the Year Odds – Offense & Defense

NFL Rookie of the Year Odds The 2020 NFL Draft stood as the most distinctive iteration of the event in the league’s long history. While the draft itself has seen major revisions and evolutions over the years, the COVID-19 pandemic forced a unique set of circumstances. The rookies didn’t get invites to a green room, a draft cap handed to them in the moment, or a handshake with the commissioner. Despite virtual draft, though, many of these rookies are looking to make an instant impact on their teams. And each one will vie for NFL Rookie of the...

Redrafting the 2010 NFL Draft 10 years later

Redrafting the 2010 NFL Draft Across all professional sports, franchises look back at draft decisions and sometimes shudder. Every team makes mistakes. The draft is an inexact science. But some mistakes cost general managers and coaches their jobs, while others set franchises back for years. Look at Oakland’s selection of Jamarcus Russell No. 1 overall in 2007. Here, we’ll go back ten years, redrafting the 2010 NFL draft. After 10 years, it’s easy to look back and see the mistakes. No NFL Mini-Camp Planned, Offseason Remains Virtual

NFL Mini-Camps are a staple of the summer months, as newly drafted rookies join club veterans and free agent signings. Unfortunately, though, the traditional offseason programs remain on hold while the league sorts out how to best manage during the coronavirus pandemic.  Back in April, the NFL and the Players Association agreed that a virtual offseason could be conducted through May 15th. Over than span, teams provided classroom instructions and workouts through virtual means, using mostly video conference.  On Tuesday, Dr. Allen Sills, the NFL's chief medical officer, explained that there's no timeline for team facilities to open their doors to...

Thaddeus Moss Speaks Out About Draft, Father

The disappointment of not getting chosen during the 2020 NFL Draft is something that will stick with former LSU tight end Thaddeus Moss. Some have speculated that missing the 2018 season due to injury, coupled with a recent foot surgery, might have been why Moss’s name, despite its Hall of Fame pedigree, wasn’t among the 255 called during the draft. In a video conference on Wednesday, Moss described his experience as “a slap in the face.” He wasn’t among the record-tying 14 LSU Tigers selected during April’s draft, and noted it was particularly insulting...

Ranking the No. 1 Overall Quarterbacks: Best to Bust

Before the Cincinnati Bengals made Joe Burrow the No. 1 overall draft pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, there had been 15 QBs taken first in the last 25 years. Entering the 2020 NFL Draft, 24 quarterbacks have been drafted 1st overall in the Common Draft Era (since 1967). Of those 24, four have won an NFL MVP and six have won a Super Bowl MVP, but none since a Manning. Only Terry Bradshaw, John Elway and Peyton Manning have won both. Bradshaw sported a .677 winning percentage as a starter, with Elway just behind at .641.
