2024 Pre-Combine Four Round Mock Draft
1. Chicago Bears (Via Carolina Panthers) – Caleb Williams, QB, USC
Everything that I’m hearing right now is pointing towards the Bears selecting a quarterback with the first overall pick. It’s either a brilliant smoke screen designed to increase the asking price for the first pick, or the Bears are ready to move on from QB Justin Fields.
I’ll go with the latter at this point in the process, which is why I’ve selected Caleb Williams in this Pre-Combine Four Round Mock Draft.
2. Washington Commanders – Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU
A new ownership group, as well as a new coaching regime in Washington means that it’s likely time for the Commanders to move on from Sam Howell. Jayden Daniels played very well for the LSU Tigers this season, with his draft stock soaring all year long. He’s the polar opposite of Howell, with much more speed outside of the pocket, as well as an improved ability to play off-schedule, which fits OC Kliff Kingsbury.
3. New England Patriots – Marvin Harrison Jr, WR, Ohio State
With a new coaching staff in place, it’s a little difficult to predict what the Patriots will do here. Ultimately, I went with the best player available that filled a need for New England. They don’t really have a wide receiver that defenses have to game plan for, so this pick addresses that with full steam.
4. Arizona Cardinals – Malik Nabers, WR, LSU
I think the Arizona Cardinals would love to see Marvin Harrison Jr’s name still on the board when they’re put on the clock. However, even if he’s not, I think the pick still swings towards a wide receiver. Malik Nabers, in my opinion, is still worthy of a top five pick, although I don’t believe that his ceiling is as high as Harrison Jr’s. Regardless, the Cardinals need to find a wide receiver this offseason.
5. Los Angeles Chargers – Nate Wiggins, CB, Clemson
With control of the Chargers, it was tough to pass on TE Brock Bowers. However, looking at positional value, I believe that there’s less drop off at tight end from the first to second round than there is at cornerback. With that being said, I went for the best cornerback on the board in Nate Wiggins.
6. New York Giants – Joe Alt, T, Notre Dame
The New York Giants have a couple of questions to answer this offseason as they start to build their 2024 NFL Draft board. For one, are they willing to use an early draft pick on a quarterback with Daniel Jones under contract for the 2024 season? If they’re not, is there another position of need that they can address while still getting value from that contract?
With a ton of expiring contracts on the offensive line, I opted to address that need over others. This means that Andrew Thomas, Evan Neal, or Joe Alt will need to shift inside, but it also means that the Giants will have a very stout offensive line in 2024.
7. Tennessee Titans – Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo
There are several players in the Titans secondary that are set to hit free agency this offseason. We’ll get a clearer picture of what they might do in the 2024 NFL Draft as that progresses, but for now, I’m using their first round selection on one of the best man coverage corners in this class.
8. Atlanta Falcons – Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina
The Atlanta Falcons need to find a quality starter or two at wide receiver, as well as depth on the offensive line. But with Drake Maye and JJ McCarthy still on the board, I don’t know how the Atlanta Falcons could pass up the opportunity to improve that position.
9. Chicago Bears – Byron Murphy II, DT, Texas
The Bears could look at a receiver to compliment DJ Moore, but I went with a different approach with the best available defensive line prospect that I could find. There’s still value for an edge rusher and wide receiver later in this draft, so I’m not worried.
10. New York Jets – Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa
The Jets lack depth and quality at corner, as well as safety. With Cooper DeJean sitting there, why not draft a player that can play both at a high level.
Cooper DeJean won’t workout at the NFL Combine next week due to injury, but that shouldn’t affect his draft stock.
11. Minnesota Vikings – JJ McCarthy, QB, Michigan
There’s no guarantee that Kirk Cousins will return to the Vikings next season, as he’s set to become an unrestricted free agent. Even if he does return, the Vikings need to find an answer long-term. I have JJ McCarthy falling slightly out of the top ten, but to a good fit with the Vikings.
12. Denver Broncos – Dallas Turner, EDGE, Alabama
If the Broncos stay put at 12, I think they’re out of position for a quarterback. Even if there’s one of the top four quarterbacks on the board, I still think going the free agency route for a QB is the right move for them.
Dallas Turner is the top edge rusher on my board. While the Broncos don’t necessarily need an edge rusher, upgrading the position with a big time player is a smart move long-term.
13. Las Vegas Raiders – Olumuyiwa Fashanu, OT, Penn State
The Raiders have key pieces at center and on the right side of their offensive line that are set to hit free agency. They have the cap space to re-sign some of these pieces, but a cheaper alternative would be the NFL Draft. Olu Fashanu is OT2 on my board, but some have him listed at the top offensive tackle.
14. New Orleans Saints – Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State
Saints LT Andrus Peat is set to hit free agency, while Trevor Penning hasn’t performed as well as the team would have preferred. Taliese Fuaga is on the board, although he’s been stuck at right tackle for the Beavers. Regardless, it’s a move that I think could pay off for them down the road.
15. Indianapolis Colts – Jared Verse, EDGE, Florida State
This is simply going with the best player available at the outside linebacker position, which fills a need for the Colts. This conversation should be between Jared Verse and Laiatu Latu. At the end, I think Jared Verse is the more complete player.
16. Seattle Seahawks – JC Latham, OT, Alabama
The Seahawks have five players on their offensive line that are set to become unrestricted free agents this offseason. The franchise has about $13 million in cap space heading into the offseason, so they’ll need to work some magic. However, the cheaper alternative is to address the need in this 2024 Pre-Combine Four Round Mock Draft.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars – Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA
there’s a group of really solid pass rushers that are set to become unrestricted free agents for the Jaguars in Josh Allen, Dawuane Smoot, and K’Lavon Chaisson. Without depth at the position, they’re going to have to address it this offseason. Given how the board has played out in this Pre-Combine Four Round Mock Draft, they’re in a tremendous position to capitalize on it here.
Laiatu Latu began playing college football at Washington, before being forced to retire due to a neck injury. He’s healthy and has found new life at UCLA. He’s not as polished as other EDGE rushers at the top of this class, typically relying on his athleticism more than anything else. However, should he get green flags during the medical process at the NFL Combine next week, he’s undoubtedly a top 20 pass rusher.
18. Cincinnati Bengals – Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia
On the latest episode of his ‘Move The Sticks’ podcast, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah discussed the topic of positional value in the NFL Draft when it comes to the tight end position. In this mock draft, I wanted to play off of that and have a little bit of fun with it.
Originally, I had the Chargers selecting Bowers at 5. However, by throwing another name into the mix, such as CB Nate Wiggins, really caused Brock Bowers to drop further down the board. And I like Bowers, but he should measure in at 6’3 and some change, which would put him a bit undersized. A 4.45 40 time would impress scouts, but you have to wonder just how much.
Without a tight end under contract for the 2024 NFL season, I imagine that the Bengals would love to see Brock Bowers on the board when they’re put on the clock.
19. Los Angeles Rams – Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama
The Los Angeles Rams haven’t had a first round pick since 2016, which is obvious when you begin to break down their roster. The front office has relied on trades or veterans to fill out their depth chart. Currently, they have massive holes in the secondary and interior offensive line. With a pair of Alabama corners on the board, I have them attacking their need in the secondary.
20. Pittsburgh Steelers – Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama
Pittsburgh needs to upgrade the quarterback position, but given how the board has played out in this Pre-Combine Four Round Mock Draft, they’re out of position to do so. There really isn’t an EDGE rusher on the board that I would consider taking at 20, so let’s look at another possibility.
The Steelers have Patrick Peterson under contract for another season, but if they wanted to get out of it, they could do so and save some money along the way. Given how tight their cap situation is, that’s not a bad idea. Kool-Aid McKinstry struggled at times in 2024, but could grow into the role over the next season.
21. Miami Dolphins – Rome Odunze, WR, Washington
With only two picks through the first four rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft, Chris Grier and the rest of the front office are going to have to pull off some sorcery to get the most out of their picks. Let’s start by selecting the best wide receiver on the board in Rome Odunze. The Dolphins offense gets more explosive with Odunze while shifting Tyreek Hill back into the slot where they can get more creative with him.
22. Philadelphia Eagles – Brian Thomas Jr, WR, LSU
Johnny Newton is an obvious candidate for the Eagles with this pick, but let’s have some fun with this one.
The Eagles will have $30 million in cap space this offseason, so they should be fairly active in free agency this offseason. They need to find a new starter at linebacker, along with additional depth at the position.
Julio Jones is an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so they’ll need to find a third wide receiver. That’s where Brian Thomas Jr comes in. He’s not a slot receiver, but can stretch the defense and open up the field for the Eagles.
23. Houston Texans (Via Cleveland Browns ) – Johnny Newton, DT, Illinois
The Houston Texans achieved success in 2023 that far exceeded expectations. However, if they want to make the Playoffs again in 2024, they’ll need to address expiring contracts on defense. The franchise has a ton of cap space this offseason, so they can be a little flexible in this Pre-Combine Four Round Mock Draft.
I’m going to take the best available defensive prospect on the board. Jer’Zhan ‘Johnny’ Newton would be a steal if he’s still on the board.
24. Dallas Cowboys – Jackson Powers-Johnson, IOL, Oregon
The Dallas Cowboys should have a little less than $9 million in cap space when the league year starts on March 13th. Given that, I don’t think they’ll be able to, nor should they, re-sign center Tyler Biadasz.
I wouldn’t use a first round pick on a center, but I’m not Jerry Jones. Therefore, it’s between Jackson Power-Johnson or Zach Frazier. JPJ had a very solid week earlier this month at the Reese’s Senior Bowl, which is why I have him ranked higher.
25. Green Bay Packers – Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia
Left tackle David Bahktiari is entering the final year of his four-year contract extension. If they’re able to move him this offseason via a trade, I think they should. The Packers also have an expiring contract at right guard with Jon Runyan, but they do have depth at the position.
Adding Amarius Mims would provide Green Bay with additional depth and talent on the offensive line, along with some versatility for them. If there’s a safety on the board at 25, they could lean that direction. But given how this Pre-Combine Four Round Mock Draft, that’s unlikely to be the case.
26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Graham Barton, IOL, Duke
The Buccaneers have a hole at left guard, along with a lack of depth across their entire offensive line.
Graham Barton has played left tackle for three seasons at Duke. He pulled out of the Reese’s Senior Bowl due to injury, but he was set to take snaps at center that week. Barton has the ability to play any position across the offensive line, which should be enticing to a franchise like Tampa Bay.
27. Arizona Cardinals – (Via Houston Texans) – Ennis Rakestraw Jr, CB, Missouri
The Cardinals haven’t been proactive in interjecting youth and talent into their secondary, and it shows when you breakdown their roster. I had them selecting Malik Nabers at fourth overall, so I think they can really dive into needs on the defense in this Pre-Combine Four Round Mock Draft.
28. Buffalo Bills – Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon
Buffalo has come up short in the Playoffs for five straight seasons. It’s likely that they’ll have to beat the Kansas City Chiefs again if they want to reach the Super Bowl.
Therefore, let’s make the Bills offense a little more explosive with Troy Franklin. I’ve come aboard the Troy Franklin train late, but I really think this is a perfect fit for him.
29. Detroit Lions – Troy Fautanu, OT, Washington
The offensive line is going to be a problem for the Detroit Lions if they don’t address it this offseason. More importantly, I think they’re going to have to commit some pretty significant resources to do so. Both of their guards are set to hit free agency, along with depth at both tackles. LT Taylor Decker is under contract for next season, but there’s no guarantees past that. Troy Fautanu can provide the Lions with much needed depth on the offensive line. Watching his film, he has the ability to play inside at guard, which helps out Detroit, who still have a ton of cap space to work with.
30. Baltimore Ravens – Chris Braswell, EDGE, Alabama
Baltimore’s defensive depth chart looks like swiss cheese with how many holes they have. The lack depth at defensive end, a pair of starters at outside linebacker set to become unrestricted free agents, along with expiring contracts in their secondary depth.
Therefore, I’m mocking them the best defensive player on the board.
31. San Francisco 49ers – Zach Frazier, IOL, West Virginia
It was close, but no cigar for the 49ers in the Super Bowl. They don’t have a ton of significant holes on either side of the ball. However, they are currently $5 million over the cap, meaning that while they don’t have significant holes, they are going to have to work some magic this offseason to restructure some of their bigger contracts.
Zach Frazier can start immediately on the interior offensive line for the 49ers, either replacing Jake Brendel at center or Jon Feliciano at guard.
32. Kansas City Chiefs – Ladd McConkey, WR, Georgia
Sending Ladd McConkey to the Chiefs just feels like a Madden cheat code. However, I love the fit. The franchise lost trust in Kadarius Toney down the stretch, and while they’ve committed some significant resources towards improving the position, they still lack quality depth. McConkey was able to get consistent separation at the Reese’s Senior Bowl earlier this month, which was supported by his game film.
Round Two
33. Carolina Panthers – Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas
34. New England Patriots – Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma
35. Arizona Cardinals – Payton Wilson, LB, NC State
36. Washington Commanders – Adisa Isaac, EDGE, Penn State
37. Los Angeles Chargers – Ja’Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas
38. Tennessee Titans – Kingsley Suamataia, OT, BYU
39. New York Giants – Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State
40. Washington Commanders (Via Bears) – Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota
41. Green Bay Packers (Via Jets) – Leonard Taylor III, DT, Miami

56. Dallas Cowboys – Jaylen Wright, RB, Tennessee
57. Green Bay Packers – Jonathon Brooks, RB, Texas
